What is that thing "Blackboard"?

Basically, it is a place where one could put documentation about GNU/Linux without to wait for review. So, the whole idea behind this "blackboard" is about that place where the actual review could be done on-the-fly. In many projects, the submitted documentation is firstly reviewed by editor/reviewer and then put on the CVS/SVN or any other revision system.

In order to achieve  that goal several parts are needed:

  • Reliable documentation format.
  • Input document.
  • Review.
  • Output document.
  • Import in the repository.

The two of the steps are really slow, that are creating the document and the review. The creation of the document is held by the author by the actual contribution depends entirely on the review. So, slow review process could drop the entire document. And that document could hang in the middle of nowhere. The faster is the review process the faster is document's acceptance. That means more up-to-date documentation and more documentation at all.

And here it comes the place for the "blackboard". That blackboard could be any "faster" way of review that keeps the document up-to-date on it's own. So, no additional effort is necessary to keep it up.

That "faster" way could be the wiki. The wiki is the key point of entire that "blackboard" thing.
