Linux Documentation is intended to be a place where one could find up-to-date documentation about GNU/Linux related questions. The documentation of the tldp.org is old and not updated frequently and since there are also other problems that whole documentation would not become appropriate in the near future.
That is the purpose of Linux Documentation.net - to build "certified" documentation that is up-to-date.
The benefits of that would be the faster processing of the documentation and the better documentation. Actually everything is based on tldp.org's work to that moment. So, GNU/Linux world has the opportunity to revive that huge collection of books, tutorial and articles.

The NetBSD project has something called "hackathons" that are days where all the community members willing to help have the opportunity to work (enjoy hacking) on a particular target. So, for example if there is a hackathon on topic "Optimization on the kernel." that means the people at that day will contribute code and effort to work on the topic.
Well, we need something like this but focused on the documentation. That are the docathons. Every month 1 or 2 days will be spent for docathon. On that way the documentation will be reviewed and sorted for further work. Docathons would be regularly made every month. So, regularly new documentation will be reviewed and imported to the "stable" branch.
